What Customers Across Preston & Chorley Say

Heating & Ventilation Systems We Design and Install

Every home is different, so we start by looking at how you use each room, its size, and your existing boiler and pipework. From there, we design a system that heats your home evenly and runs efficiently, whether that’s new radiators throughout, underfloor heating in an extension, or a complete system as part of a renovation.

Sealed or Open-Vented: Which System Do You Have?

Most homes have one of two types of central heating. An open-vented system has a small feed and expansion tank in the loft and is common in older properties. A sealed (pressurised) system has no loft tanks and runs at a higher pressure, with a pressure gauge on or near the boiler. Knowing which you have helps us diagnose faults faster, and if you’re upgrading, we can advise whether switching to a sealed system suits your home and existing pipework.

Central Heating FAQs

If the boiler is firing but heat isn't reaching your radiators, the problem is usually elsewhere in the system. Common causes include a faulty pump, a stuck zone valve, an air lock, or controls and thermostats that aren't calling for heat. Our engineers check the whole system to find the cause.

A radiator that's cold at the top but warm at the bottom usually has trapped air and needs bleeding. One that's cold at the bottom but warm at the top often has a build-up of sludge, which a power flush can clear.

If you have a sealed system and keep having to top up the pressure, there's usually a leak somewhere, or a fault with the expansion vessel or pressure relief valve. It's worth having it checked, as a hidden leak can cause damage over time.

It depends on the age and condition of your system and what's causing the problem. Many faults can be fixed with a single part, such as a pump or valve. We'll explain what we've found and your options before any work goes ahead.

In many homes, yes. Underfloor heating can often be added to an existing system, for example in a kitchen or extension, while radiators heat the rest of the house. We'll check whether your boiler and pipework are suitable.

Most boiler manufacturers recommend a service every year, and it's a good time to check the rest of the system too. You can find out more on our boiler servicing page.
